What is it?
A surgical procedure to reposition the ureter (the tube carrying urine from the kidney to the bladder) into a better position in the bladder to correct problems like reflux or blockage

Vesicoureteral reflux (urine flows backward from bladder to kidney)

Recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs), especially in children

Ureteric obstruction or narrowing

Ureter injury or abnormal placement
How is it done?

Performed under general anesthesia

An incision is made in the lower abdomen

The problem segment of the ureter is removed or adjusted

Ureter is reattached to a better location in the bladder

A stent or catheter may be placed for healing
Recovery:

Hospital stay: 2–4 days

Catheter or stent removed after 1–2 weeks

Full recovery in 2–3 weeks
